Car crash kills El-Rufai’s brother

The car rolled several times and fell 200 yards down the side of a hill and ended up in a ravine, San Bernardino County Fire said. Cesar Andrew Caro, 24, of San Bernardino and Jennifer Blancas, 19, of Banning were pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters found the third man who was ejected. He was immediately rescued and transported to the hospital with multiple fractures to his spine. He was identified as a 23-year-old man from San Bernardino. A female and a pregnant woman, both 19, were trapped inside the car. The pregnant woman was airlifted to the hospital, but suffered extensive injuries including the loss of her unborn child. The other female did not suffer any substantial injuries. “It sounded like something was scraping at the back door, and it went on for a little while, uh, so I got up and walked around the house,” said neighbor Brian Bouskill. “I looked outside and I didn’t see anything because I didn’t look up the hill. When I went back to bed, my wife woke up and she looked outside and saw the car on the side of the hill.” The San Bernardino Police Department is investigating the accident. Neighbors say they heard cars racing and wonder if that could have been a factor in the crash.

A portion of North Harbor Drive near the airport shut down Sunday night because of a deadly accident. It started around 7 p.m. when a car hit the median and catapulted eight feet into the air, according to witnesses. NBC 7’s Candice Nguyen talked to one couple involved in the crash who are counting their blessings.

Los Angeles County coroner’s officials released the identity Thursday of a woman killed in a multi-car crash in Tarzana. The fatal crash occurred Monday about 11:05 p.m. at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Vanalden Avenue. Coroner’s officials identified the victim as Cynthia Grace, 64, of Los Angeles. Grace was preparing to enter the onramp of the south 101 Freeway when the driver of a 1999 Ford Taurus heading east on Ventura Boulevard rear-ended her 2003 Saturn Ion, said Det. Bill Bustos of the LAPD’s West Valley station. Grace was killed when her Saturn was crushed into four other vehicles in front of her. A fifth car next to her was sideswiped. In total, seven vehicles were involved in the incident, Bustos said. But the vehicle that received most of the damage was the Saturn, Bustos said. This was a horrible collision. Witnesses told police the man thought to have caused the accident allegedly walked over to the nearby Chevron gas station and purchased a six-pack of beer. The man was drinking beer when the officers found him, according to Bustos. It was unclear if the man was already under the influence of drugs or alcohol before the crash, authorities said. Bustos said the man, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
